Default Lift Kit Question

I have a 1990 ford f-150 4x4 that has stock tires and wheels on it. The tires are 235-75-15. I bought a set of super swampers a few weeks back and I want to put them on the truck. The super swampers are 36/12.5/15. I am looking for the most affordable way to lift the truck. It looks like a body lift is cheaper, but my brother has suggested that I get a 2 inch block lift then cut the fenders to get the rest of room needed. I am not sure exactly what I need to do. If anyone has any suggestions on how they lifted their truck or what to do or not to do then please reply.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,

Mike

You can either do this by getting a lift kit (maybe a 4" suspension and 2" body or 6" suspension) or you can end up with a cobbled up nightmare. I guess if the truck is strictly for the weekends, then who cares?

I am willing to bet in either case you will have to get the suspension aligned and make note of the driveshaft angles so you won't be eating up u-joints like crazy. You should probably consider changing gear ratios, otherwise you will be getting horrible gas mileage and have NO power to go off-road.

Oh yeah, don't forget about longer shock absorbers.
