Default Leveling and lift question.

In order to put a 3inch lift on my 87, do I need to first install a leveling kit? Or can it be done without one? Would it look stupid?

No you don't need a leveling kit first for a suspension or body lift..No lift looks stupid!

A leveling kit is a short lift kit designed to raise the front about 2 inches. It uses either taller springs or spacers. A lift kit is the same thing but it is designed to lift both front and rear generally 3 inches or more. So if you put s leveling kit on you would just be replacing it when you put the lift kit on.
