Talking Just bought my 3rd f150!

just made a rather quick up in the air sale with someone with a 1993 f150 extended cab short bed 4x4 5.8l auto he wanted 900 for it ended up buying it for 650 and he delevered it!

the only problems it has is the typical ford rust around the wheel arches out back and cab corners.exhaust is leaking but no biggy and the biggest issue is the transmisson has lost reverse but considering its 350 for a used transmisson i think i got a hell of a bargin

id post pictures but well its to dark out curently.

any ideas on what the transmisson issue could be? its an Automatic unsure of what kind, could it possily be a shift linkage or ecu? my worst case is just swap the transmisson out for a new one so no big deal.

Low tranny fluid is an easy check. Although it normally causes the truck to stall, not loose reverse completely. Check the fluid to see what condition it's in. Nice deal on the truck though!

thanks! hopefully the snow wont fly until thursday. i plan on checking all the fluids when its cold. i think it was a steal, nada says its round 3k for average retail so thats good, even with a new tranny and some exhaust work id come out ahead Love this generation so much, i think my next one is going to be a 1997 f150 centurion or bronco if i can get one.

Well this deal just keeps getting better and better got up this morning and started to check the truck over in more detail and figured might as well try reverse, shifted and bam right into reverse so after celibrating i let the truck warm up and checked the fluid its just barely on the dips tick so seems that it was just low on tranny fluid, i shifted into drive it it was bogging down some and felt like it was slipping...its got posi and the cruddy snow tires where spinning

Picture of the truck! was ogrionaly gold it seems bed was red so its been messed with.

Sometimes the Trans filter can actually fall out and into the bottom of the pan and cause a no reverse or delayed reverse issue.

I would pull the pan and do a complete service including draining the torque converter.

Add 1 bottle of Lucas Trans fix with the new ATF. My e40ds ran cooler with a bottle of Lucas added to them.

this is the first automatic f150 ive had i prerfer manual transmissons. thats one thing i will be doing it has 127k and got to figure if its the eod4 or the other one. going to replace the filter and fluids and def going to put lucas in. as well as oil change and transfercase fluid. i am very happy to see that there is no codes or light on, the one major issue is the steering columb bushing is toasted because the idiot drove it with out power steering for quite a while but 10 bucks will fix that and another 80 for new lines and a pump. I am still crossing my fingers but if its just a simple fix i made out like crazy

E4OD*. Two easy ways to check: if stock the door jam sticker should have a trans code of E, or you can get under and check the oil pan.
