Exclamation iPod shutting down

I have a problem with my Pioneer HU in that it will shut down my iPod while the truck is running, but not with the engine off. If I unplug it, then plug t back in, it will work fine for a min or two then cut back off again. Sometimes it will show that it is playing, but nothing is coming out. The stereo was not doing this, at least this badly, before the new coil. (Which is staying) Last night I also noticed for the first time it was shutting off the display. Could the new 45,000 volt coil be to blame? Maybe need a new battery? Was thinking of an Optima or something along those lines. GOD only knows how long that poor battery has been in that truck. I did notice tonight that the volt meter was slightly to the left, instead of in the middle. What ever this problem is, it is not getting better.

start the truck, and check voltage at the battery, it should be 13-14V, if not, your Alt. is ****ed.

now for the iPod thing, it sounds like faulty wiring, doubt your coil has ANYTHING to do with it. unless its some eBay POS and somehow ****ing things up

What brand Coil?

check your grounds...

if you have faulty grounds you can put feedback into your Ipod and it will shut itself off to prevent damage to the unit if it isnt already.

also you should have Noise filters on BOTH hot wires on the radio...

I have an MSD coil. I enjoy the little bit of added performance I get from it. Wensday I will check the wires again to make sure they are ok. The alternator is only a few months old, so I believe it is fine. My volt gauge on the truck does not show numbers, but the gauge reads almost right smack dab in the middle of the gauge. Next time I have the chance to really check it will be wensday as we are supposed to have bad weather here tommorow and monday. How do I get these "noise filters"? I will get some sandpaper and ensure the ground wire spot is completely clean.
