Default Introduction, and Ignition Key Question

Hello. New to this forum, but not to F150's! I just picked up a 1996 F150 XL super cab, 5.0 5 speed 4x4. She seems to be in pretty good shape, with less rust than I might have expected from a New England truck. Previously, I owned a 1978 F-150 300-6 that I ordered new- A great truck that a friend of mine still owns, although rust has really had its way with it. I also had a 1979 with the 351, 4x4. Another great truck.

My question to kick things off is about the ignition key. I assume the '96 has a transponder chip. I only received one key with the '96, and was hoping for some guidance as to what needs to be done to add a second key that will work for me.

Thanks for the help!

That truck shouldn't use a transponder key, so any hardware store should be able to cut you a few spares.

no transponder chip in 9th gen keys. just take your key to a place that has a key maker and they will copy your truck key pattern and make a new one
