Instrument panel question

On a 94 ford F150 can the standard instrument panel be switched out to one with a tachometer without doing anything else? If not, what else has to be done to make it work?

Yes it can. All wiring is there for a tach cluster. You will need a cluster from a '94 or '95 model truck for it to work properly.
