Default Info Request

I have recently purchased a 1991 F-150 5.0 w/ AOD Auto Trans. It is in GREAT shape. The engine is smoother than new! I went to have the trans filter changed and decided to watch. When the pan was removed, part of a metal tube and the end of a band was found in the pan. It was apparant that someone had been inside it. The thing is; it shifts good! There is some hesitation, but very little. Question! I was quoted $1,300.00 for a complete rebuild. Am I about to be taken? I paid very little more than that for the truck.

When ever the pn is pulled for the first time you will ale=ways find some sort of plug in the trans that is before Ford puts in the dipstick the factory puts the plug in to seal the trans.
