Ignition problems
The other night I was walking out to the garage and went i went to run down the door I noticed the bumper was out to far, since it was 11 at night i unlocked the column and pushed it in a foot. Well when i went to turn the key off it was stuck in the run position, i played with it trying to get it loose for a while until i grabbed a pair of pliers and wiggled it and finally got it to pop free, the ignition was useless, it just spun around it would not start or shut off power it could only lock the column. I figured my switch had crapped the bed, i quickly popped it out and as i thought, no spring return and a very sticky motion i ordered one from napa and just went and got it,much smoother but still no spring return. Am i dealing with another bad switch or is something else broken?

It's hard to help when you have NO information about the truck in your signature.

The switch is NOT where the key goes - that's the lock cylinder. Which one did you change?

And you need to put ALL the truck's details in it; including whether it has tilt/cruise (and tilt can be tricky to ID).

The truck has a tilt steering and cruise. It is automatic so colomn shift. I think i figured it out though, the rod that connects to the lock switch (what is that called?) is broken on the end but i managed to take off the bezel and can get it started with pliers.

Ignition actuator. Read this caption:

Post what you're trying to put in your signature, and I might be able to figure out what the problem is. But if you follow the instructions in that first caption in my first reply, you should be able to fill it with simple text. If you keep having problems, contact the administrator for help.
