ignition problem
Hey guys, Can't get a break, Went out to truck today to start, Put key in , pressed clutch, And the key just turned all the way, with nothing in between. Guess ignition switch finally decided to go. I know nothing about this issue, Can anyone tell me if this is an easy fix, and the steps i will need to follow to repair, ? Thanks in advance
I think we have a sticky on this. If not we should. There is a small linkage between the key cylinder and the shaft up the column. It's not to hard if you don't have a tilt column. Do a quick search on the board. If you don't find it ill try to find a write up. AutoZone.com has a good blow apart diagram of the assembly.
i think its called an ignition actuator switch.. i have a thread with a video in it about it (for the tilt column) I'm sure it'll work just fine even if you don't have tilt.. very helpful to me. just replaced mine like a month ago.
Hey IkSmith, watched the video, Looks like a big headache to me , Ha,Ha. Called the Ford place today and the part was gonna be 16.95. Just curious so i ask the how much to install and they quoted 260.00 labor. Sounded awful high so i called a local mech. And he quoted 200.00 . The ford place called it a ignition actuator rod, While the local guy called it ignition actuator Rack. Are these the same part? How long did it take you? AND was it a tuff job?
