Default Ignition Mod?

Here is the run down.
88 F150
5.0
4x4
3 spd auto

Giving me some starting issues the past few days so I changed the dist cap (it was raining during the 1st occurence). This morning I go to start it and spins a little longer before it starts... went fishing, pulling the boat out of the lake the truck just dies. I pull off to the side and curse the 1st time. Tried to start and spins but never fires.
Checked for fuel at rail, ok
fuel pump comes on
Changed coil (had a spare, long story)
changed coil wire (same story)
pulled a plug wire inserted a spark plug, grounded and turned over truck, no spark.
double checked all grounds
pulled dist cap and bumped ignition, rotor spins
no check engine light

I'm leaning towards ignition module, just looks like it might be a PITA to do with the location on the distributor.
Any thoughts?

Dave

Special tool and ten minutes changes the TFI/ICM. No biggie but could be pip inside distributor also. Change the TFI/ICM and then go from there.

By special tool do you mean the 5.5mm socket?

No not a 5mm socket. It is a tool that has thinner sidewalls to get into the TFI sockets where the bolts are located. Costs ten or fifteen bucks to buy.

Actually it was a 7/32" and $3, interesting little tool though. Either way though ignition module it was. Ended up marking and pulling the distrib. to get to both screws holding the module in.
