Hello, I purchased a new ignition coil connector, however there is an extra wire (2 green wires) that I am not sure what do with. The existing only has 2 wires. Do you guys know the best way to splice this for repair. Thank you!
Ugh, challenging when replacements don't match up before the additional degree of difficulty with the color-coding.
Given your pics (thanks, helps to explain a lot) - suggest tying the wires from the connector to their respective wires from the harness per original layout, then just tape and isolate the extra wire(s).
Connect the new one exactly like the original to be replaced. I would solder the new wires to the harness making sure the old stripped wires are clean. Then cover the solder joints with shrink tubing. The extra green wire I would cut it flush at the spade connector. Why have that extra wire taped up or dangling there if not needed?
I would also replace that old coil. Those wires look overheated to me and the primary winding of that coil may have a short, drawing some additional current.
Correct me if I am wrong, is the reason why I don't have a place to put the extra wire because I don't have a tachometer? No rpm gauge on my gauge cluster. Thanks for the help everyone!
