Default Idle with A/C on

I just got the A/C working in my 87 F150, and it will barely idle with the A/C on. Is there supposed to be a solenoid to kick the idle up, or is the computer supposed to automatically do it?

Either way, any suggestions on how to get it to idle properly, so it doesn't stall when I stop at a light?

Thanks,

Computer should control the idle. Just turn the idle screw up a little to compensate.

Dirtcrew51m, thanks for the reply. I had to go look at my truck when I read your reply about the idle screw, since I hadn't seen one. I figured out why I didn't see it....a previous owner apparently broke it off. I am going to try to drill it out and put a new screw in.

Thanks,

No problem, you might want to use cobalt bits for the screw, and if you do mess the hole up you can get a tap and rethread the hole for a size larger screw, just measure the distance between the throttle and throttle body to give a reference as to where the throttle is set.
