Does the IAC have anything to do with a weird idle or control it in anyway if so can it be set?

About all I know to do with the IAC is to clean it. Mine gets carbon buildup and gets an irregular, surging idle that is usually cured by cleaning it up. I don't know of any adjustments that can be made. Consistent high idles can be caused by vacuum leaks or a TPS that is not positioned correctly, to mention a few causes.

The IAC, Idle Air Control, boosts up the idle whenever there is extra load on the engine such as when the A/C is running. It cannot be adjusted that I am aware of. It is very easy to change and costs around $65. It can be cleaned as well.
