I know you need a special socket. They (the infamous "they") make one socket for auto hubs and one for manual hubs. You can get them at the parts store. Do a search on this forum and you should find out what size to get. Also, I remember something about a snap ring or C-clip that is hard to see, make sure there isn't another before you remove that nut (the four notches are what the special socket engages).

Could you please keep taking pictures as you go and post them?

if i remember right he has all the snap rings by now and ya get the socket and take that off. When putting itback on the nut ratchets so just tighten till you feel it clicking

Advance Auto borrows a lot of tools out... Bet they had one for free to use but then again, another tool can never hurt unless you need to move, then it is a pain.

Could you please help- I have the stock locking hubs on my 1990 f150 and we are replacing all parts for brakes. Even bearings . We have the hubs on and I believe they are just snug enough - not over tight ! But they are not quite locking right on the drivers side- it isn't turning all the way to free smoothly , but it is unlocking and locking. I could sure use some Picts of the spring and sprocket order of assembly- I think I have a spring and or sprocket backwards? Thanks wes
