Question how to firm up an automatic

I'm pretty sure I have an e40d it's an automatic with overdrive and on the filter it has a spout on it (guy at orielly said it showed which trannyis which) I know it's electronically controled and I want to know how to firm up the shifts and get off the line better.

What should I do? New tourque converter? Programming? Maybe an auto shift kit?

Any suggestions will be appreciated

This chart should show what transmission you have:

I am not good with transmissions, so I cannot offer anything to help, other than then chart. I am sure someone else here will have some good suggestions for you soon.

you sound like your racing, are you?

i would do the torque converter to be able to launch
if you just want to firm up the shifts i would put a shift lit in the valve body

This is supposed to be a cheap/easy solution:

Yeah kinda it's still my daily driver but being able to put some dodge and chevys and my assistant managers 06 4.6 in their place everyonce in awhile would be nice. I found a jet chips transmission tuner on thepartsbin.com that is selectable it's about 125 ish would that work too

another kit you could look at is a transgo shift kit. It'll involve replacing a few parts in the valve body that will firm up shifts and make it better overall.

I installed a transgo kit in my 4r55 transmission in my explorer with good results. The B&M shift improver kit in my c6 made it shift much firmer, now I'm worried about my old U joints. Just remember that the kits have several levels of performance, the mild performance is what you'd want out of a street vehicle.
