Default Hood latch jammed

I was jacking with my spark plugs, and I must have stepped on the latch engaging it in the lock position. So when I got slammed shut the safety latch got wedged in some how. Any ideas on how to get open? I've tryed to unbolt the whole latch mechanism but non of my tolls will work because of the grill. plz help

Did you try pulling the hood release inside the cab ?

(Sometimes that will free it up.)

Can you fit a screwdriver under the latch and pull on the release at the same time?

push down on the hood a little if possible while working the latch. you cant get a 1/4" drive ratchet lots of extensions, a swivel and a socket on the two bolts?

you might want to take the grille out so you have more room to work

this happened to me on my 95, there are 2 10mm bolts that are holding the latch mech on. i used the ratchet wrench and a little socket on the other. its is a b**** but it works. just make sure you re-align the latch before re bolting. some wd never hurts either

The grill will only come off when the hood is open
