Default High Output Alternator

Any one who has an high output alternator, first of all what do you got and did you have to do any other updates, becasue i know all the alternator instructions tell you to update the wireing and make sure the battery can handle it or it will fry the battery, just want to get the facts straight before i get myself into trouble

I've NEVER heard of frying a battery with a high output battery, that is a farce. Any battery will be just fine.

No your getting the wrong info....the only way you can fry a battery is if you internal regulator stops working and you overcharge it. Just because its not charged all the way up doesnt mean anything, thats why the alt has a regulator on it to keep that from happening.

I put a 200 amp alt on my truck not long ago...I got it from www.mass-air.com its the 3rd generation alt, so it does not have the fan on the front. You need to upgrade your wire going to the solenoid, I suggest buying their harness, its a little pricey but to me it was worth it, it comes with the correct guage wire (6 guage I think) and has the correct fusable link in it. I had to grind just a little bit off of my alt bracket to get it bolted up but I think I took less than 1/4 inch off with my little die grinder.

That would be the 3G conversion I was talking about.

I upgraded my 70 amp 2G alternator for my 1990 F-150 w/4.9L, with a 95 amp 3G from a 96 F-150 w/4.9L

I bought the harness's from RJM and have got no complaints at all

I used Motorcraft # F6PZ-10346-HARM1

Direct bolt in,clocked perfectly....No issues what so ever.
