high idle
i had a high idle on 92 f150 unpluged iac and it idles normal was idling from 2000rpm to 3000 rpm in park or netural and i was stopped at a stop sign on ice in drive and rpm went to 3000 rpm and started to slide sideways any ideals.
Kind of confused - if the idle is normal with the IAC unplugged, suggest the IAC is faulty. If the idle is high all the way around, then agree that a vacuum leak is a good suspect.
As far as the ice sliding - remember that the tranny is providing torque to the driving wheels, even at idle. This creates a slight imbalance in braking action, resulting in the non-driving wheels to lock up earlier, since the brakes don't have to overcome the engine torque. One solution is to keep it in 4WD if so equipped, another is to hit the brakes harder which can be self-defeating on ice, another is to pop the tranny into neutral when slowing and stopping, and of course, the last is to just call in sick. :-)

Sounds like the IAC. The Idle should tank when unplugged, barring a vac leak or other anomaly. and assuming your at warm idle.
