Default high amp alt????

i have a 1990 f150 2wd 302. i am runnung some cb electronics and and an amplifier, major draw. i have a rebuilt alt in there now{like 55-65 amps so i am told}. the guy in the alt shop told me there is a "g3" alt that will bolt right up and can be made to do like 150 amps. he wants like 200 bucks for one of these. has anyone heard of a g3 alt or is he yanking my chain.i think if i can find one in a junkyard, it might be easier on my wallet. any help would be awesome.

You can have your alternator built up for higher amps. I would definanlty recomend a better alternator with those loads.

3g altenators are nothihng new. I did soem research and looks liek one from a 94 explorer with 4.0 will work. They do have different size alts so make sure you get the 130 amp. I am looking to put one on my 94. Can get it from advance for about $130 and should be a direct bolt in. They pulled a stock alt for my truck and the 130 amp from th explorer and all bolt holes were in same place. One thing I do recommend though is bigger wire from alt to battery or starter solenoid. Can run 4ga wirie with fuse inplace of the 10ga on there now. When I do 130amp swaps on mustangs I try to run 2ga with 150/175 amp mega fuse.
