Hi New to the forums and Ford...
Hello I am new to the ford side of ownership...
well not really I once owned a 89 van with a 300 I6 but that didnt last long...
I am currently the proud owner of a 95 F-150 with the 300 I6 and 5 speed tranny...with 79,000 actual miles...
I got a really sweet deal on it and it has only one small spot with a rust spot other than that it is pretty clean...
I believe I am the 3rd owner so far...
So far it has taken a little bit to get used to the lack luster performance of the I6 and the issues with these trucks in my area...Rust buckets...
Since I took ownership in March I have had to replace the rear shackles and hangers because those rusted off and the rear of the springs werent holding anything...I found this when I loaded the truck and it drove really funny...
I replaced the radio as the stock one was dead when I got it...I also just replaced this weekend the front coil springs and shocks...
I have to say I was a little disapointed the front end didnt raise any with the new springs...the passenger side was broken...
The 5 speed tranny has issue for such low miles...it doesnt like to go into second when cold and most times wont go back into first unless completely stopped...I am inclined to believe the owner before me shifted without the clutch and buggered up the sliders...
when the tranny is warm (after about 2-3 miles) it shifts okay but still isnt as easy as 4th and 5th gear...I changed the fluid to the spec fluid and some Lucas and that helped a bunch....
I get around 17mpg with the truck and I think that is pretty weak considering my other truck gets almost double and is much faster and has a V8....(other team)
I had to do a complete tune up as I dont think it had ever been done..everything looked factory original even teh plugs as the electrode was worn almost half off on every plug...
the truck doesnt seem to have the power I think it should but I have done a couple things that helped...
I checked the timing...it was at 8deg and what the heck is with timing tabs on BOTH sides of the engine...I was looking for the timing mark at the front cover timing tab and I couldnt find it until I found another tab by the smog pump....
I set the timing at 14 deg and that helped with a little power and gas mileage...
I know it is common for the cats to clog on the I6s so that will be replaced soon...too bad I cant find a header for this thing...
I checked my plugs and they are tan...not too light nor too dark but I bet I could trim some fuel as well by ECM mods...(gonna post in that thread next)
I already put a 160deg thermostat in and that help a bit too....heat still gets toasty hot and the AC still gets cold...I sit in 95deg days with the AC blowing 32deg out the vents...Thank you Ford for AWESOME AC...!!!!

no I havent...I looked at Jegs and Summit for headers and I came up nothing....
My buddy has a 95 F-150 ext-cab 4x4 with a 5.0L and he gets 20mpg easy...
I hate knowing I have dual 19 gallon tanks and I can watch the gauge move while I drive...I drive on average 150 miles a day...I see the gauge move ALOT...
If I fill the tank full I can get about 275 to 285miles to a tank full....and that usually filling up with 16 gallons....so 16 gallons to 285miles...still not good considering my other truck get 24 easing and it a 5.7L V-8

are you picking on me because I drove for the other team...
???
My other truck was free and it has 350,000 miles on it and has NO rust at all (texas truck) and the only reason I aint driving it is because the heater sucks and the AC doesnt work....
it recently took up smoking on the passenger side bank probably do to my abusive driving habits...( to the wood and never lift)
I like this truck because I consider it SAFE....to slow to get tickets and it looks like a farm truck....lol
main thing the AC is super cold...
