ok well I went ahead and put a new fuel regulator on it tonight .. fuel pressure with engine off is now about 45psi... pressure with engine running at idle is 45psi...pressure with vac line removed and engine at idle is about 50psi..now with vac line hooked up to regulator, engine running, I give it some gas and pressure drops to about 38 to 40 psi...when I turn the key I do hear the fuel pump but it only lasts about a sec or 2 .. from what I have read I should be getting 50 to 60 psi...does that sound right..does all this point to a fuel pump...I hate to pull the tank and put new pump in only to find out that aint it...lol..any thoughts on this ?

It's called an Engine Coolant Temperatre sensor (I was having issues with it's name for some reason), it usually will shut down the engine or not allow it to start. Which doesn't sound like your issue, I was just pointing out the difference. As for testing one... I'm not positive and not in a position to research at the moment, but you shouldn't have a problem finding "ECT testing diagnose" in a google search, throw in ford or f150 to narrow it down.

I would stick with the EGR for right now, fix whatever your problem is with it (giving 3 codes for one system is an indication of something not functioning) then if you are still bogged down/hesitating keep going. I'm willing to bet that you have a vacuum leak in one of you small diameter vac lines that is causing this (probably the one to EGR).

ok..so far I have replaced the TPS,IAC,EGR position sensor, fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel regulator..im no longer getting a CEL and there are no codes.. its hesitates and bogs down worse now than before I started throwing parts at it...I will look at the vac lines more closely and I will be buying a mityvac to rule every vac line out and replace what leaks.. the truck will start every time I hit the key..i hit the key and it starts right up even after its been sitting over night...could a map sensor or a o2 sensor cause this problem even though im not getting a CEL...looks like this truck has 2 cats on it..could they be bad or clogged....any thoughts?

dunno..I borrowed the gauge and I wont be able to get it back till next weekend but im figuring that it aint the fuel pump that's causing the problem..i think theres a vac leak somewhere im not seeing or theres a sensor somewhere that's bad but not showing any codes.. carb cars were so much easier to work on..lol...never been a fan of computer engines..ohh well I will either figure it out or buy a chevy..lol...
