Default Help, Please!!

A few times something has happened to me and I can't figure out what's causing it!

Whenever i turn the wheel as far as it can go to the left, the truck stalls. It starts right back up with no hesitation. What could be causing it to stall?

Another problem I've been having is ...... Feels like the tranny is jumping into 2nd gear! Only 2nd. Any idea on both of these situations???

thx

there's nothing wrong with your steering. The power steering pump is simply a hydraulic pump. when you turn your wheel all the way left it must be stopping the fluid flow, and because the pump runs off your engine, it simply cant turn the pump anylonger and stalls the motor. kinda like dropping the clutch with the brake on full force.

As for the trans. check the nuetral saftey switch, speed sensor or sensors, and of course fluid level. If all this checks out then the unit os probably goin south on you and you should expect to replace it.

There is supposed to be a pressure switch in the power steering line that will increase the engine idle to overcome the increase of force the power steering pump uses, this is similar to the switch for ac cycling.
