Ford F150 1987

Help can not shut close hood tight wont latch can move latch up and down but can not get it where to have it so it latches tight.

 

adjust it left/right to get it to fit into the square hole...make sure the spring loaded hook doesn't hit the hood with the tip of the point. slooooooowly close the hood to see where it is binding. You can put thin glavanized washers between the latch and the core support to shim it out if you need to...or you can realign the hood at the hood hinge on the firewall. If you choose to realign the hood, first unbolt the hood spring/coils from the hood and let them dangle inside the fender.

oh, if it won't sit tight it could also be because the 'bent spring' that fits inside the hood latch hole that presses on the latch to hold it tight may have broken off....if your hood even had one of those to begin with i'm not sure.

 

push the handle all the way in the cab.
