headers vs. manifold
So if I went with shorty headers would I be able to keep my y pipe exactly how I have it with the manifolds that are already on my truck? I would rather not replace or modify the y pipe if i can avoid it
Yes sir...all you do is remove the manifolds and disconnect all your retarded emissions ****...and everything should bolt up. I would recommend making sure the headers you buy have all the emmisions stuff on there. Mine had it. it's just a tube that has threads in it on the passenger side header. Mine were bout 300 bucks but i found some cheaper. I have the flowtech shorties for my 5.8
Shorties - bolt right up, $300, alittle top end hp, sound alittle better than stock
Long tubes -bolt right up (do need a custom y-pipe or true duals), $300, alot of low end torque (which is what trucks need and thats what you feel in the seat of your pants, not horsepower), sound alot better than stock

If I use one pipe is no back pressure I am good to go?

Cheap made thin mounts warp is your better made pipes have a reinforcing plate with gaskets so there is no leak is why manifolds leak are a flat finish to a flat finish.
