hard to start when hot

Default hard to start when hot

hello

in oct 2008 i purchased a 1989 f150 xlt and i seem to have a problem when its hot. it does not like to start when shes hot she will roll over slowly sometimes just once my check engine light is dim and also my other lights (this only happens when trying to start hot). i have replaced the battery with a new 800cca unit also the icm has been replaced

can anyone help?

Check your earth lead to the engine!!! Also check the starter motor, it may be on it's last legs, copper loses it's conductivity when hot!!

thank you for your fast reply, i have 3 grounds runing to the frame/body and 4 grounds runing to the motor. one is direct ground to starter

i'd say its the started. its a 4.9 isnt it? my dad has that trouble with his. i would try and find a high tourque mini starter and wrap it. th 4.9 exhaust runs right by it. when we replaced his it would crank no problem no matter how hot it was. but after awhile it went back to the same old thing.

i orderd the starter today. it is not a 4.9 it is a 5.8L
