Default Guess whos geting there engine rebuilt

I am eventually. Apparently my 300 that is sopposed to be indestructible isnt so indistructible cause it only runs on 5 cyls. That cylinder is blown up. So now im going to run it till it finishes blowing up then rebuild it or find another under 100k engine

my first truck was an 85 f150, my friend blew the engine up in his on a trip to salt lake. didnt take long either we were headed up malad pass and when we arrived at the summit we noticed the truck was knocking, we turned around and attempted to get back home. made it just past pocatello id and then she blew a few holes in the engine one in the side of the block and one in the oil pan. i bought the truck off him for 100 dollars and put 83 bronco 300 i 6 into it. cleaned everything up put about 500 dollars in tune up parts it ran great pain in the *** to update the engine though. but it was a great way for me to learn about these trucks and how it works. anyway imo rebuilding them is better before they blow.

whats wrong with the cylinder that isnt working?

bout the only thing that can happen to these engine is a cam lobe wears off from neglect or a pushrod gets bent from over revving...

or you over heated it and it blows a gasket/cracks a head.... other than that they are indestructible....

For me it was the heads, the intake valve locked up.

We figure just that cylinder is bad no idea really and i really dont want to put any more money into it. Im sure the ahole that sold me the truck knew it was like this but never said anything. I probly havnt put 20 miles on the truck in the yr and 1/2 i owned. So just gonna run it this way till i find a good cheap low mile engine or rebuild at some piont but scool is almost hear and the truck has been at a shop all summer now i really just want it back

My dad had a Porsche 914 with oversized pistons and a racing cam
both of which looked like a pain to install
