got a problem 1990,5L,5speed
Welcome to the site!
Does the 'check engine' light come on at any time other than the self-test during start-up? If so - may consider having the computer codes pulled.
The Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoid is notorious for fouling, causing idle problems. These can be cleaned relatively easy with simple tools, a little time, and some carb cleaner. But an IAC problem usually results in erratic, surging idle speeds, not just low.
Given that the problem occurs only once the engine is warm - may be a problem with the EGR system or something else that engages when the engine goes into closed-loop operation. Typically would see a fault code for this.
