Good deal or no? 1988 F150 Lariat - straight 6 300
Probably should've posted BEFORE i bought the truck, but oh well. Just spent $3K on a near mint 88 F150 4x4, lifted with super swampers. The truck is solid, no rust, well kept.
What do y'all thing. $3K a good deal?
It's a southern truck but I'm bringing up north where you just can't find them without rust all over.
Hell, I could probably turn around and sell it for double the money up here but I need a reliable winter truck for me and the kiddos and if it holds up well, wouldn't mind passing it down to my son in another 12 years.
Can't figure out how to post pics yet, but will shortly.

Good looking rig, although with the lift and graphics, it would attract a very narrow range of buyer.
Figuring if the truck is mechanically solid, you did quite well on price. FWIW, I sold my '89 back in January for $3,500 with no dickering on the price. That right there told me I started out too low...

WDE, thanks for the opinion. The price was what I was a little worried about but I did so much looking over the last year and this seemed like a steal for a well-running, lifted 88.
As for the flames, not a big fan of them. But I hate rust even more so flames>rust!!!
Speaking of rust, anyone have any suggestions on the best way to keep this beast rust free through the winter months up north. They salt the **** out of our roads up here.

Eh, no experience from heavy salt areas, just suggest to wash as much as you can underneath throughout the winter, weather permitting... Don't give the salt the time it needs to start in.
More extreme measures might include undercoating...

I live on Oregon so I only experience the occasional surface rust. But I do know that when the truck was purchased, they did an underside bedliner type of spray that was supposedly for rust prevention and general underside protection.

I've heard of loading sprayers with anything from vegetables oil to some other diluted type oil-based mixes and spraying it under there. Don't know anyone who has done it personally though, so i'm hesitant to do it.
I used to wash my vehicles throughout the winter to get the salt off but stopped doing it because half the time i'd go to get in my car the next day and doors were frozen shut. lol

Google krown rust proofing and find one near you. The stuff works. On a new car if you doit every year they guarantee you're car for life against rust. If there is not one near you get a syphen sprayer for an air compressor. (Must be large compressor. Like 50-80 gal tank or else you will not have enough air voulume) and fill the sprayer up with a mixture of used motor oil and other oils ( fluid film works good) and spray the entire undercarriage.
