Glad to hear about somebody actually driving an oldy on a long trip. I used to take a lot of long trips and purpose built an f150 for it . There just so much more comfortable than a little rental car.

I drive mine all over the southeast with a 20ft enclosed trailer, and I've never had a problem. I completely trust my truck, but that being said I keep a lt least a quart of everything and my tool box full of tools just I case something should happen to my truck or the trailer. And I have some grease. But I keep tools and fluid in everything I drive, even much newer than my f150, I feel vulnerable if I don't lol.

It's really cool when I get more north and people see my truck and think wuuuuuutttt? No rust???? Then they see Alabama tag and think wuuuuuttttt? All the way up here? In the mountains with a trailer? I've been on trips and stopped at a gas station where apparently someone had been driving the same way as me for a few hundred miles and we talked about it. He loved the truck.
