Question getting a mini spool

ive been doing some off roading and the farther i get into the local trails the more i realize that a locker of some sort would be a great investment.
i've looked through my option and i think the mini spool would be a good low budget locker for off road use.

does anyone know what spline the axles are on a ford 9" out of a 96 f150? it doesnt have any tow features if that helps. its the 5.0 with the 4r70w.

i dont wanna buy one without knowing what spline i need. and if anyone can give me any helpfull hints it would be greatly appreciated

Can't help with the spline count but before buying a spool of any sort (BTW a locker is different than a spool) you need to ask yourself what is the intended use of the truck? Daily driver, weekend warrior or a dedicated trail only rig?
A spool will have very unique handling characteristics, you will have excessive rear tire wear when on pavement and will put a lot of unnecessary strain on the axle shafts everytime you turn. You must also use the exact same size, manufacturer, pressure and tread tire on each side the rear axle this means both at 50% or 75% or whatever. If you don't the vehicle will want to push to one side all the time and your truck will never track straight.
Just an FYI.
What ever you decide on enjoy wheeling but be a responsible wheeler..

Are you sure it is a 9"? I am pretty sure 95 uses an 8.8, and I believe they are 31 splines. And as far as a spool, go with a good locker. Spools will make it very difficult to turn. Lockers will unload an axle to make the truck turn.

I would leave whats there for now and save for a locker. You are asking for trouble unless you put on very hard tires to allow for slippage so the rear wont bind.
