New fuel pump and tank - crank no start
1996 f150
300 i6
5spd
new fuel pump and tank installed as my rear tank was leaking and the oem pump finally quit.
now cranks and cranks but no start UNLESS I cycle the key a few times. This obviously pulls fuel up and primes everything...
once started, can’t touch the gas pedal until warm up, or else it will bog down and stall.
It’s quite annoying
anyone have any ideas why?

Eh, not a lot of experience here, but I'll throw in my two cents -
Guessing you have dual tanks from your mention of the rear tank - tank selector valve not fully moved over to the rear tank? Maybe exercise it a couple of times to see whether anything changes.
Had a similar issue with my one-tank '89, was thinking a check valve was stuck, but never got ambitious enough to find whether one was there, just rolled the key three times before hitting the starter and lived with it. Thought it might be the fuel pressure regulator not sealing off, but changing it didn't do anything.
As for the warm-up issue, suggest to read the computer codes, and check the fuel rail pressure - would like to see 40-45 psi.
Good luck, and keep us posted. Hopefully members with more experience here will be along shortly.

Thanks for the thought.
I’m certain that this truck doesn’t use a selector valve, employing only the dash switch to energize either the front or rear in-tank pump.
Recent tune up, roll over switch (or whatever it’s called) in passenger side kick panel is depressed as it should be.
