Question Gears?

I have a 1995 ford f150 2wd and I want to replace my rear gears I really don't play in the sand or anything like that so I really don't need a locker I figure maybe some of you guys might know what type/brand and where I can get them, thanks.

Why do you want to replace the gears? What is your goal? better mpg or better acceleration?

Better acceleration. I was talking to a friend earlyer and he told me to put a detroit locker in and be done with it, but i don't think i'll use one.

unless you're spinning on takeoff, a detroit locker won't do anything for acceleration at all. Check in your door jam for the axle code, see what ratio you have, then replace your gears with a numerically higher #. The downside is that your engine will spin faster when going down the highway and get worse gas mileage.

if your not a serious off roader then i wouldn't bother with a locker, there 5-600 bucks. if you really wanted to spend some money, detroit locker is a brand and you would just need a 8.8, 31 spline model.
