I put autometer oil an water gauges on my a pillar. It was worth it to me...the stock temp gauge was completely wrong. I went with the electric senders...wanted mechanicals but gettin a copper line up the a pillar without pinching it would've been tough. I'm glad I did it.

I installed a 2" mini Tachometer in my dash just to the right of the steering wheel. Well worth it when I'm watching MPG's and just looks cool. I'm going to go with a flat panel voltage gauge next. I'd like to find a flat panel digital temp gauge too, but they are kind of out of my price range.

I had trouble deciding where to mount the gauges too. If I were going to mount a triple set, I'd get a dash top gauge cluster mount. Looks real clean on the dash with no wires showing. $20
