Default Fuel tank return issue

My rear tanks returns fuel to the front tank. It seems only at highway speeds not at lower rpm in town driving. (When I tried to calculate mpg from the rear tank it left me scratching my head) Both fuel pumps were new in October last year. On my 95 how do I fix this?

Usually when one tank fills the other the check valve in the pump in the tank that is being filled is bad. Also on some of the early 90’s models Ford installed an inline check to help with this problem not sure if your 95 have them I know my 92 does. You might also check the vent check valve in the top of the tanks.

Okay thats what I was hoping someone might know for sure....If the 95 has inline check valves and the location. Did a search but couldn't find anything specific to a 95. Looks like I'll have to pull it in the garage and do a little digging around.

If it has them they will be between the fuel line and the pump. They have a male connector on one end and a female on the other. One end goes onto the pump the other into the fuel line.

Did you resolve the fuel tank issue, mine is the opposite. I have a 95 F150 and the front tank (by cab) drains fuel to the rear. I was wondering why I was only getting 100 miles per tank on the front tank then I realized it was draining fuel to the rear.

Like I told sd if one tank is filling from the other it has to be getting by the check valve in the pump. This is a very common problem with our trucks. If it has the inline check you can get it back working or install one and go for a while but the pump has to be replaced to fix the one in it.
