Fuel Tank Lock Ring
I went to fill up the truck the other day, and gas started pouring out around the fuel pump. I got up under the truck and noticed the lock ring wasn't on all the way and it was all bent up. So I got a new one, went to put it on and I don't know if it's the wrong fuel pump or what but it seem's like the pump don't fit in the tank right. It sit's at an angle no matter witch way I twist it. So every time I try to turn the gas ring around under the teeth It pop's off. I was just wonder if I could put silicone around it just temperary. The lock ring does catch all the teeth until it get's to the hump that's on the ring. I was driving in the rain yeasterday, and today when I went to leave truck wasn't running right felt like their was water in the tank..
Lost me here. Did you have your pump replaced recently and someone installed the wrong one?
The location of the tank ring prevents it from being damaged from road trash. No there is no way to seal it if the ring wont go on because the pump isnt seated. Honestly, driving it down the road like that not only let water to mix in but also dirt from the under carriage of your truck. I would recommend droping the tank and figuring it out before any more damage is done.

I just bought the truck back in February and I'm trying to fix all the screw up's the previous owner had done. I don't know if the fuel pump has been replaced. I just dropped the tank to put a new lock ring on. and I noticed the fuel pump don't sit in the tank flat enough to put the new gas ring on all the way.
Hmmm... if the tank isn't all bent up, it's probably the wrong pump. Or, is the hole where the ring locks straight?
I'm just shooting in the dark here... I guess I'd check for bent/damaged issues first, then inspect the pump assembly to be sure it's together correctly, then as a last resort, I'd consider the pump being the wrong one.

Well, I think I solved the problem. I just dropped the tank to take another look at it, And the top part that connect's to the fuel pump one of the teeth underneath that slide's into the tank was bent. We'll see what happen's when I fill it back up tomorrow.
