Default Fuel Pump?

91 4.9l 2WD 5Speed Dual Tanks No AC unknown mileage (300k?)

Truck has been driving poorly on the rear tank. It misses and has to warm up for a while before it runs okay. Stalls when cold if I don’t give it a little gas. It doesn’t do this on the front tank. For the last couple months I have just avoided using the rear tank.

But then, the front tank died all of the sudden. It seems like the fuel pump died. I hear the solenoid click when trying to start but I don’t hear the (front)fuel pump. I also don’t hear the pump when I jumper the thing under the hood (rear pump works though.)

So two problems. First, the front FP seems dead. Should I check something else before replacing the pump? I guess I could check the wiring.

Second, what could be happening with the rear tank? I thought maybe the pump was going bad. Is there something else that could cause low fuel pressure on only one tank?

Thanks.

Might be enough crud in the tank such that the rear fuel pump pickup screen has clogged...

Sounds like you're just flat SOL with the front pump...
