Fuel Filter fitting for 1996
Is there any reason why I shouldn't cut off the push type fittings and use rubber line with barbed unions and clamps to hook my fuel filter up? One side already came apart and I haven't been able to get the other one off yet . Already used two different specialty tools 5/16 , I'm over it
Opinions will vary, mine is to stay with OEM design as much as possible, but given approaching 30 years old and expected related availabilities and timeliness of parts - would have no problem going with the shortest path solution that can withstand the 40-50 psi fuel pressures.
My '89 had the push on hose with the plastic e-clips to hold, a seeming over-designed solution - wouldn't have thought twice about chopping and lopping as needed, and going back with worm-drive hose clamps if ever a problem.

Happens regularly on older Chrysler mini vans with no provision for repair (other than bulk fuel injection hose)
Not the filter issue, the lines split and need repair
I would also suggest to repair yours with good used lines from a junkyard
You sure can use 50psi fuel injection hose from a parts store and hose clamps
