Default Front cab mount rusty

I can try to get some pictures later but I was wondering what you guys did to protect your front cab mount boxes? Mine are rusty. They are still there but are a little scaly on the bottom/front by the hole. Yesterday I cleaned as much dirt and loose rust out of them as I could. Was thinking about coating the inside and outside with fluid film when I do the underside of the truck. What have you guys done in this area to protect them? Truck is a 1997 f250.

Take a look at a product called rust converter.
Maybe start with that.

Every two years I spray down the entire underside with this product. I probably can go every three years as the coating is slow to wear off. I have been doing it for many years now on my 87.Three cans will cover the entire underside on an F150.
