second side was easier.. once you know what you're doing haha. everything is out. now i have to see what i need for replacement parts/gaskets and start scrubbing.
after a summer long project (really taking my time) i figured i better wrap this up before winter... so i get it all buttoned up and connected... i go to start it and i'm getting the 'nuh nuh nuh nuh' sound like it wants to start but isnt catching spark or something... i'll post the video soon.
battery (resting) is putting out 12.5v. i will add fresh gas to the tank tonight. i'll also check my spark plug wire connections... i have a feeling i may have tightened the rocker arms too tight tho.
I don't think I've ever seen a more determined individual as far as repairing so many things on an old truck. Kudos to you. I recently bought 95 F150 that needs a lot of work too. Not sure I could do near as much as what you have. What all did you do to the engine? As far as the way it sounds, I don't hear anything personally except the obvious, it's not starting. Have you checked to make sure you're getting spark or fuel?
Thanks Glenn- some days i wish i could just drive it but i'm glad to be learning so much about these trucks. probably won't get to work w it again until tues evening and with the time change, that will limit my time after work more than usual. also- it's deer season so who knows when i'll get to it
i had it running (very rough and very high idle) for a little bit. i made sure to connect all the vacuum lines just in case that was hurting it at all and i got it running (still rough but lower idle at least) and now it just sputters and doesn't start. i'm finally bowing out and letting my little cousin (mechanic) take a look at fixing it. hopefully i didn't screw anything up majorly... also- i haven't hooked up the egr valve yet but that shouldn't cause it not to start right? worst case scenario I buy a used motor for 500 bucks and have the mechanic put it in...

gave it to my mechanic cousin and he got the timing lined up. he thinks i set the distributor in just off the mark and i was missing some of the vacuum line hookups. i also just paid to have my water pump replaced bc it looked like it was leaking pretty bad. all in all she's running great now! stay tuned lol.
