Default ford E4OD tranny

I just bought a 91 f150 with a 5.0L and E4OD tranny. Could anybody tell me what problems I may run into. I hear that these are pretty tough, but after a 177k any thing could happen.

177k is nothing. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

By the way tranny and t-case are in fine working order. Just wanting to do away with the 3:55 non limited slip rear. My 84 has the 3:73 limited slip rear.

At 160k on mine, all is well, just due for a fluid change like right now. Keep the fluid and filter fresh and you should be good.

Or you could be like the select handful that never touch the fluid/filter and have the tranny go 300k with no problems....
