fluid service

Default fluid service

with just getting my sons 1987 f150 4x4, could someone suggest what fluids i should change out, he has 120K actual miles on it . Have no service records. Thanks

Oil, Coolant, tranny, brake and differential if you have the time. Same with gas, if that hasn't been done yet

The first 3 are the most important, in my opinion

if it's new to you, i'd do oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, trans fluid, diff fluids, transfer case fluid, and coolant. Hell, while you're in there, might as well top off the washer reservoir as well. (everything..)

with any car i buy that is used i go through and check and change every fluid and filter no matter who owned it last plugs and wires on top of the belt checking the tentionor and distributor and coil then I always do a Maine state inspection type deal before buying a car no matter what some people might get a bit upset if you tell them it will fail for this or that as usually but you know what your getting after that. Also check all the lights just to be sure.

after i buy a new vehicle i check all the fluids, change the oil and transmission fluid and then the filters. i change other fluids depending on how bad they appear. i also change belts and batteries if they aint looking to hot.
