Hey guys, I have a 96 f150 4x4 4.9L six cyl. THe trannie and transfer case calls for mercon. I put mercon v in it. Is that ok? Also I have two manuals for it. For power steering fluid, one calls for power steering fluid the other says transmission type F. I have had two fords before and they both took type F. The fluid is too black to tell if it has red tint to it. In fact all the fluids are for that matter. It smells like power steering fluid and the pump whines bad. should I drain it and put type F in it? Also what kind of hypoid gear lube do I use. 85-90,75-140? I guess 85-90 is normal for around here. Missouri area.
