A tube step would look great. Or just simple 90 degree angle iron all bolted together so it's stiff

I just left the salvage yard and was looking for steps for my wife's xcab. There were 20 sets out there a couple weeks ago and not one set left today. Guess I'll be fabbing some up out of rectangle tubing. My buddy has done several trucks with thick wall rectangle tubing, bed liner and welded to the frame. They look great compared to the tubes in my opinion and are stout. We bottomed one of the trucks out on the steps climbing over a hill top and it held the weight of the truck without bending and let us slide it off of high center with the winch. Acts like skids on each side. He's got 20ft of the rectangle left he's going to give me when I get my welder.

well I trimmed the bottom of my flareside bed (stock flareside) cause the bed sits 1.5 inches lower than the cab and i didn't like those fiberglass steps. if you look at the "showin the love for 7/8/9 gen" thread the last pics are my truck (the huge one) and my ol' lady's truck and youll see what im talking about.
