First tranny drop in my 95 XL, suggestions?

300 I6, sounds like a waterfall after shutting off???
I know this sounds stupid, I know an engine cooling off is noisy, but this is rididculous.
After a decent drive, say 20-30 minutes home from work, I cut the truck off and for roughly 10 minutes sounds like water trickling over a waterfall, and eventually like a leaky faucet (water into still water?)
Am I just being paranoid, or does something not seem right here? Maybe too much oil hanging out in my heads or something? I'd normally just brush it off, but this ol boys got a lotta miles, and not much TLC over the years so I wanna make sure it's nothing before I dismiss it.
On a side note; found the "proper" bleeding procedure in my Chilton manual for my clutch, gonna give it a last ditch effort before heading to the parts house tomorrow.
Another stupid question; on a 95 F150 w/ the 5 spd Mazda tranny, is the tranny filler/fluid check drivers side or passengar? Got 2 "could be's" but I believe it's the driver's side (if so, I'm ) because it's beat to hell n back (the bolt, that is)
