Default Factory Steps

I have a line on a set of factory steps and hardware for my 95 for $150 but I can see they are cracked.... I am sure there is a way to repair them (fiberglass re-enforcement) and Steve83 do you still make brackets for them? My truck did not come with the steps but I am sure they will work.

cracking is pretty normal, is it just the gelcoat or is it the step laminations? Repair depends on the whether things are cosmetic or structural.

I believe there are differences in the steps, depending on standard cab, jump seat cab, short and long bed dimensions, etc

Finding the brackets (in decent shape) is the hard part, fabricating them is an expensive proposition - and you would still need to attach them to the frame and that hardware can be a challenge.

I too, would be interested in the "metal" stuff for my 1992.

Anyone who can repair a boat or a Corvette, OR build a contoured car speaker box, can repair the fiberglass cab steps. You can buy FG repair kits at most parts stores, and DIY; but getting a smooth finish on the visible side might require a real paint & body shop. The steps are not connected to the bed, so not dependent on bed size. And the fasteners are very common on all Ford vehicles.

Yes, I still make the brackets (at about half the price of the repros, which are just as rust-prone as originals), but I'm sold out at the moment. My fabricator is in the process of upgrading from a plasma table to a 6KW laser, so we're having to tweak the design, and he's working the bugs out of the new machine. So I'm not sure when he'll get another run of parts to me. E-mail (thru my profile here or on SuperMotors) is the best way to buy parts from me.
