Default Factory intake tubes

They have a metal coil inside of each one of them. I was thinking about removing them since im sure they restrict airflow. When i removed the tubes from the truck i noticed that the tubes are a bit flimsy. Im wondering if they would sag or suck themselves closed. Has anyone done this before?

I dont plan on buying an after market intake system but i would like to improve airflow wherever i can. The insides of mine are very oily and dirty so i may have to remove them anyway to clean the insides.

For the record, when you mash the gas the intake tubes get sucked shut. Similar to a straw when trying to suck a milk shake through it.

So, dont do it. Im putting mine back in the morning.
