Question f150 trim question!

Is there a difference between the XLT and the XLT lariat in the older trucks?? I know there's a difference in the new ones, but it's driving me insane trying to figure it out, I've looked everywhere, and some places say there's XL, XLT and XLT Lariat and some places say just XL and XLT Lariat! Please let me know!

i would like to know the difference as well. i have a 90 xlt lariat standard cab, short bed, 4x4. it's got power windows, locks, premium sound. it has the bench seat that has the arm rest that folds out of the center of the bench. it's basically fully loaded(for the time) except it has a manual transfer case.

here's a pic of mine, i can take/post some more so we can compare

Hmmm, interesting... Possibly the Lariat meaning changed over the years. I know when I ordered my f350 back in 2000, the dealership told be that the Lariat package is the leather package...

After a Wikipedia search, here is what I found for the earlier ford packages:

For 1982-1986:
Base - basically the same as the Custom of the previous years.
XL - replaced the intermediate Ranger trim for 1982 as the Ranger name would be used for Ford's new compact truck.
XLS- a new trim level that featured a blacked-out grille, bumpers, headlight bezels, and windshield trim. It also featured a stripe graphics package and black and silver dash trim. Available exterior colors were red, silver, and black.
XLT Lariat- featured floor carpeting, color-keyed headliner, a standard chrome grille, and optional power windows/door locks. In 1985 the tailgate trim was changed to a "flat" full width aluminum with a red "reflector" towards the bottom with chrome FORD letters.

Have an 88 XLT Lariat Supercab, front seats are cloth while rear sofa is leather.
