Default f150 light issues

Ive got a 1987 f150, And the headlights keep burning out on it. There is a choice between 9004 and 9007 bulbs at the store, i just want to confirm that my truck is supposed to run the 9004's?

I put in a 9007, and it seems to work, high low. The previous 9004, burnt out. ( in less then 2 days of use)

The wiring pigtail looks like this -Gr _Rd -Blk
green, red in middle, and black. So it seems to match up with the 9004 diagram, at least for the ground connection.

So far, the 9007 is holding up, its only day 2, but well see how long it lasts.

What bulbs do you trucks run?

9004 is the correct bulb for your year truck...check for shorts in your wire. PS...do not touch the bulb itself with your fingers. the oils in your fingers will cause the bulb to prematurely burn out.
