Default Exhaust System

So I want to do something to my 90 302/4x4 to make it sound better then the stock system on it now. I was thinking about headman long tubes to a X pipe to either 2 flowmaster super 40 or super 44 or hushpower hp-2 performance mufflers. Then dump them out before the rear tire on the passenger side through a pair of 2.25 inch in and 3 inch out 8 or 10 inch long tips. I want true duals out. I am not for sure on the headers. I am also worried about the back pressure. I do not have any cats on it now. If anyone has any thing to say please let me know. Thanks.

im not sure if long tubes will work on a 4x4 but someone else will have to answer that. also if u got dual tanks you cant run a x-pipe into true duals, im running straight pipe off my cats dumping out in front of the right rear tire and i think is sounds great. i got it at a buddies shop now hes puttin up a set of shorty headers and magnaflow y pipe with a hi flow cat. although a super 44 does sound good on a 302. friend of mine has a pair on his stang , and as far as backpressure goes thats an "Opinionated" topic im running a hi flow cat so it "looks" good. not a requirement yet in Illinois but some day it will be nation wide if the tree huggers get there way

Thanks for the information. I dont have dual tanks, just one ( really sucks on a trip ). I found these headers at jegs and they are for a 4x4. http://www.jegs.com/i/Hedman/500/89350/10002/-1 I really want the headers but will it make that much of a difference? Not just sound?

yea they headers make a pretty good difference i would deffinatly go with long tubes, they will work with 4x4 but it is a little bit more work to get the working with a good exhaust system, and just for clerafication if you run an X pipe then you cant have true duals, true duals mean that they are completely seperate from one another and dont cross together at all, here check out this post https://www.f150forum.com/f10/help-g...-43933/index2/ i got pictures of the exhaust i did on my truck, its a 95 302 but the same basic idea except since you only have the one tank you can run it straight out after the transfer case instead of what i did
