Default Exhaust help

OK my 91 5.0 f150 had true 2 1/4 duels when i bought it with hedman long tube headers with a 2 1/4 collector. but it had Cherry bombs (YUCK) so yesterday i chopped them off and put flowmaster 40s on it. my exhaust is quiet now i had to take the tailpipes off so i could hear them. my question is how can i get my exhaust to have that deep rumble I'm looking for without redoing it all. right now it has a hollow tone through all rpms no popping our cracking someone told me to run 3" tails would this help

If the flowmasters were bought New, give them time to break in. Mine are slowly starting to get a deeper, better rumble in them. I drive lightly, in town, maybe 50-60 miles a week now. Have had them installed since January I believe. 1 was new then, 1 was used since around September.

3 inch pipe should help give you a deeper note. I ran a single 3" after the factory y pipe and cats, with a summit copy of a flowmaster. It has a nice smooth deep rumble. I used a 3" 90 degree and dumped out the side before the wheel. It cut out the freeway drone. But if you want it louder and don't mind the drone, keep the pipe straight. The big tubes made a world of difference in tone over the factory 2 1/2 with no muffler.

Oh just one note however. Keep in mind "good exhaust sound" is as subjective as "good music" everyones taste is different. But a section of 3" exhaust is only about $10 and if you.don't squish it you can take it back so try it and see how you like it.
